Week of Treats: Day One of Seven

Hey everyone! Daniel and I are having a good time right now! We are stepping in as caregivers for our favorite 5 rascals for a week while their parents are enjoying a 15 year delayed honeymoon on the beach in the sunshine! Thankfully though, these kiddos are like neices and nephews and really good kids! Today we took it kind of easy, Daniel drove D2 to the airport bright and early, I made a pancake & sausage breakfast before church, enjoyed a wonderful message, made more grilled cheese sandwiches (and peanut butter melts) at one time than Daniel and I have ever made, and just took it easy for the rest of the day. Daniel had to leave to go studying for his organic chemisty final tomorrow, so we thought we'd start off our Week of Treats today with a simple decorating of gingersnap men. I thought we'd run out of icing from the kit, so I made some more from scratch using a recipe I'd never tried before (and likely won't again, it wasn't wonderful but edible). I have a bunch of wonderful yummies to bake with the girls this week, I'm excited to show you our creations. If we can get photos before the treats are eaten that is!! On the agenda this week (and ALL from scratch!):
  • Gingerbead House
  • Chocolate Reindeer Cookies
  • Santa Cupcakes
  • Sugar Cookies of all shapes and sizes
  • Candycane peppermint flavor cookies
  • Coconut Balls, Peanut Butter Balls, etc, etc
Can't wait! Yum! Plus we are making treats to take to AWANA on Wednesday for 3 different classed. I am loving the chance to do this much baking! It's a bit much for just Daniel and I!

Stay tuned! (I'm going to make a point to try and blog each day at the end of the day! Wish me luck!)

I am LOVING this Nativity Scene from Uganda! (Where David is from!)

And can anyone guess what movie we watched tonight based on this bad snap of the tv?
